A perfect red pear;
its pore-filled sheen like the tanned ruddy-skin
of a Mediterranean lover's
bathed in oil and sun, honey and water.
My lips-a full mouth devouring
this beloved
Breaking through its epidermal tautness
I taste now a pale flesh
A leathery skin dressed for commerce
A grainy interior absent of the craved
flavor of deep, fugacious lips.
